My wife and I composed together and sent the following e-mail message to Senator Susan Collins (Maine) in response to her decision announced today to vote ‘Yes’ re Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court –
Senator Collins:
What would you say to your daughter tonight if she confessed to you what Dr. Ford brought to public notice? What does your decision say to your daughter? Please stop presenting yourself as a 'moderate' or a 'centrist'. Just disappear among the rest of the Republican senators. Your decision on Brett Kavanaugh's nomination demonstrates that you are in the pocket of Trump and McConnell. How could you dismiss Dr. Ford (and the survivors across the country), the Yale Law School faculty, the 1700+ lawyers who signed the public letter, the revised American Bar Association assessment, the hundreds of mental health professionals, the Wall Street Journal editorial board, the Washington Post editorial board, the New York Times editorial board, a retired Supreme Court Justice, and . . . ? The last vestige of the old 'Republican' senator left the stage with John McCain. Your attempt today on the senate floor to explain your decision ignored and distracted from the core and disqualifying factors -- Brett Kavanaugh specifically and intentionally lied under oath and then became hysterical in his self-defense. But then the president whose favor you retain or whose bullying you fear cares nothing about basic honesty or decency. I assume you and/or Maine were paid-off well at some point. There is no other explanation for your decision and your lack of courage in this dark Trump era.

We also sent variations of this e-mail message to Senators Lamar Alexander (Tennessee), Bob Corker (Tennessee), Jeff Flake (Arizona), and Joe Manchin (West Virginia).
